Book Arts and Preservation Workshops - 2008Workshops are open to all interested in attending. NEW WORKSHOP Italian Pamphlet: Mitered hard cover,soft-spined bookletDates: Saturday, February 16, 2008 This handsome structure combines several skills for new and intermediate binders. Covers are clothbound with ornamental indentations. A simple pamphlet is stitched onto a spine liner which is attached to the book by means of a soft contrasting cloth covered spine. Class Size: 15 maximumStudents will bring basic tools like pencils, rulers, scissors and mat knives. Items like needles, self-healing cutting mats, awls, will be provided. BOOK SAMPLE 1 BOOK SAMPLE 2 NEW WORKSHOP Box with Bone ClaspDates: Saturday, April 12, 2008 Come and learn how to put together a box. The basics of measuring and constructing a box will be taught, as will covering one inside and out. Students will learn how to attach ribbon ties and make a loop for a small bone clasp. Properties of paper, bookcloth, adhesives will be introduced. No prior experience needed. Class Size: 15 maximumStudents will bring basic tools like pencils, rulers, scissors and mat knives.
