Master of Science in Library and Information Science Emphasizing Community College LibrarianshipWith generous funding from the IMLS Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program, GSLIS has teamed with the Network of Illinois Learning Resources in Community Colleges (NILRC) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Education (COE) to offer an M.S. in LIS with emphasis on Community College Librarianship. Required Courses* LIS501: Information Organization and Access (4 hours) Community College Required CoursesHRE 501: The Community College (4 hours) HRE 592: The Community College Student (4 hours) Additional courses recommended by community college librariansLIS451: Introduction to Network Systems (4 hours) * Students may pursue studies on-campus or online. LIS required courses are available on-campus and online. HRE required courses are available online. Delivery format of elective courses vary. Students accepted in the grant-sponsored cohort will receive tuition support, mentoring, and also have the opportunity to pursue a 6-month paid internship upon completion of studies.
